I decided to try hypnotherapy, even though I was sceptical. To my great surprise, not only did I after only a few sessions find the will power to successfully lose weight (35 lbs), but was also able to project a better self image

No. Hypnosis is an enhanced state of relaxation. You do not lose consciousness, and you remain aware of what is going on around you.

We all enter a hypnotic state many times each day. For instance when you are driving along and realise you can't remember the last few miles. You have been driving safely and in control, reacting to the traffic and the road conditions, but you were in fact in a light state of hypnosis.
